The Exams Officer Digital Accreditation - a key part of an exams officer's professional development

03 Jan 2022

The importance of possessing a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the latest JCQ regulations is a key element of the exams officer role. For many exams officers this also forms a core part of their annual appraisal or professional development, yet providing evidence of an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the changes in the annually updated JCQ publications has proved problematic.

Therefore, the NAEO is delighted to support the launch of The Exams Office’s Exams Officer Digital Accreditation (EODA). Not only is the NAEO supporting the launch of EODA, but we are endorsing this accreditation by allowing the inclusion of our logo on all certificates.

The EODA is an online timed assessment which measures knowledge of the following JCQ publications:

  • General Regulations for Approved Centres
  • Instructions for conducting examinations
  • Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments
  • A guide to the special consideration process
  • A guide to the awarding bodies’ appeals processes (JCQ Appeals booklet)
  • Exam room posters
  • Information for candidates
  • Key Dates
  • Post-Results Services
  • Suspected Malpractice: Policies and Procedures

Exams officers must answer 75 questions in a maximum of 45 minutes across all the publications listed above. Questions are selected randomly from a bank of questions, and the assessment can only be completed with the score of 100% across all sections.

The EODA can be attempted as many times as required, and each section can be restarted until 100% is achieved.

The cost of the EODA is included within a centre membership to The Exams Office.

The NAEO welcomes the launch of this online assessment and encourages its members to use the EODA as part of their annual appraisal/performance management, and as a vehicle through which they can confirm their knowledge and understanding of exam regulations to their line manager/SLT.
